eMUSIC SPONSORS CENTRAL PARK SUMMERSTAGE
The #1 Site for Independent Music Turns Downloads Into Donations
to City Parks Foundation
NEW YORK, May 16, 2006 – eMusic, the world’s largest digital retailer of independent music, and the number two digital music service worldwide, has signed on as a sponsor of Central Park SummerStage 2006. The company will distribute 200,000 co-branded cards offering 50 free downloads to attendees at every Central Park SummerStage event. As a result of this partnership, eMusic will make a contribution to the City Parks Foundation at the end of the SummerStage season.
Concertgoers that redeem the cards also will have the opportunity to sign up for a free trial of eMusic. eMusic also will offer 50 free downloads to anyone who signs up for a free eMusic trial by visiting www.emusic.com/summerstage.
“SummerStage’s lineup touches almost every musical genre – indie-rock, hip-hop, jazz, electronic, all kinds of world music and more – and so does eMusic’s vast collection of great music,” said David Pakman, President and CEO of eMusic. “It’s a definitive New York City music series, and eMusic is very proud to lend its support to the performers and the City Parks Foundation. Any customer attending a SummerStage event has great taste in music and is therefore the perfect eMusic subscriber.”
Many artists performing at SummerStage boast music available for download on eMusic, including indie-rock stars New Pornographers and Calexico; underground hip-hop artists Lady Sovereign and Jean Grae; world music genre-busters Amadou et Miriam and Konono No. 1; alternative jazz duo Charlie Hunter & Bobby Previte, and more.
