About Ubiquity Records
Ubiquity Records was launched in 1990 as a labor of love by Michael and Jody McFadin who ran San Francisco's world famous record store, Groove Merchant on Haight Street. The label started out as Luv n' Haight as the McFaddins, with only a thousand dollars and no prior knowledge of the record industry, decided to add their own contribution to the evolution of the "groove."
In 1993, the company incorporated as Ubiquity Recordings. It quickly garnered a well deserved reputation both in the states and abroad for offering quality releases that span the worlds of hip hop, acid jazz, rare groove, down tempo beats and afro-cuban/nu yorican soul.
To accommodate the growth of its eclectic catalogue, Ubiquity has spawned several imprints; the Latin flavored CuBop and the aforementioned, collector friendly, re-issue label, Luv 'n Haight.
Ubiquity has a worldwide distribution network and more than 100 releases by such notables as DJ Wally and Swingsett, Bugs, Eddie Harris, DJ Greyboy, Jack Costanzo, P'taah, Better Daze, Bobby Matos and others. The name Ubiquity was chosen because of the labels mission to make unheard music ubiquitous.
